SOMETHING SPECIAL IS BREWING

Coffee from the forests of the Eastern Ghats.

Discover our Coffee

Shade-grown · Community-grown · Specialty Arabica

Coffee from a Landscape Waiting to Be Discovered.

Coffee was introduced to the Eastern Ghats in the early 1900s to stop 'podu', or shifting cultivation, practised by indigenous communities in the region.

While neighbouring Araku and Koraput region coffees are making waves globally, we serve the untapped areas where this wave hasn't even reached!

Farmers here just sell in bulk to middlemen, unaware of the special value their coffee and their land possess.

So, starting last season, we've trained our first cohort of partner farmers on post-harvest processing and quality control.

They've learned selective picking, fermentation experiments, raised-bed drying and improved processing — on a quest to give their coffee a new identity that would be appreciated by coffee lovers around the world!

Will you join us for coffee in the forests, along with the people growing it?

Here's the Feedback We've Received from the Market…

SCA Scores
81–87 range.
Source: Berryco, This Side Up, Wakuli Coffee, Stumptown Coffee Roasters cupping reports.

Cupper's Notes
Fruity, sweet choco and nutty flavours with hints of lemon, vanilla, herbs and spices.

We understand that evaluating the cup quality of coffee is subjective, but industry feedback is encouraging and it means a lot for our partner farmers to understand where they need to improve  be it post-harvest processing, plantation management, biodiversity health or infrastructure.

Grown with Care by Tribal Farmers.

Communities
Bagata, Gadaba, Konda Doras, Kondhs, Valmiki, etc.

  • Forest dwellers and traditional gatherers.

  • Traditional agroforestry practitioners.

  • Skilled in traditional crafts.

  • Practice 'Sahayalu' (mutual aid) by sharing labour and meals during community workdays.

Beyond Coffee.
Towards Regeneration.

Coffee farmers from the Eastern Ghats have officially joined the Raddis ecosystem - getting inputs such as interest-free seeds and intercrop seeds, tools like pruners, and infrastructure such as cow sheds and seed banks.

This helps them stay away from middlemen debt traps and grow a resilient food & fibre forest.

Every day, our field team spends countless hours on the ground training farmers:

  • To prepare their own natural farming inputs sourced from nature, based on indigenous wisdom.

  • To make informed financial decisions.

  • To skill up on harvesting, processing and other value additions for coffee and other food crops.

A Forest of Possibilities

We're preparing for a second pilot for the upcoming season with our cohort of progressive farmers.

The aim this season is to further improve the processes, operations and infrastructure so farmers can unlock the premium speciality coffee market.

Pilots on biodiversity are already underway, empowering local youth to protect these forests rich in biodiversity.

A local cupping lab and experience centre is in the works.

And there's so much more - biochar, cascara and more.
